Christopher "Chris" Miterko
April 23rd, 1988 - October 10th, 2024
Chris Miterko of Lakewood, age 36, passed from this life on October 10, 2024 following a short illness. Chris leaves a large circle of family and friends who will miss him very much. Chris was a warm and loving person, and he touched the lives of many in a hugely positive way.
Chris was a true Renaissance Man. His interests included literature of all sorts, as well as every genre of music, preferably played on vinyl. He loved snowboarding, hiking and rock climbing with his brothers, and fly fishing with his dad. Chris developed a passion and knowledge of cooking after working in the kitchens of several local restaurants in the first part of his working life. Making art was also his passion, and he pursued it through painting as well as his job as head of the floral department at Safeway. Family outings to art museums and galleries were an adventure with Chris providing color commentary on how to interpret what we were observing.
Chris was born in Evanston Illinois on April 23, 1988. The family moved from Chicago to Los Angeles, and then to Lakewood, where Chris resided for the next 30 years. He graduated from Green Mountain High School in 2006, and attended Red Rocks Community College, as well as Metro State College. During his formative years he was especially proud of completing a rigorous Outward Bound program, preaching a sermon to his church congregation on the philosophy and theology of Søren Kierkegaard, and completing several mission trips.
Chris leaves behind his mom, Lisa Eastin, of Albuquerque, has dad and stepmom Peter and Melissa Miterko of Lakewood, brothers Peter (Monica), Noah and Warren, and sister Emily, his grandfather Peter Miterko of Trumbull, Connecticut as well as a large contingent of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services for Chris will be held November 16, 2024 at Historic Rockland Church at 11:00 AM. Following the service will be interment of his ashes in the family plot at Historic Rockland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made via check mailed to Mean Street Ministry, 1380 Ammons St., Lakewood, CO 80214 with the notation “in memory of Chris Miterko” on the memo line.
