Catherine "Catt" J Dunaway-Alt
1968 - 2024
Catherine "Catt" Dunaway-Alt, age 56, passed away after two and half years fighting cancer. She died peacefully surrounded by family in her Gulfport home. Catt was born in Miami, Florida, and raised in Tampa, where she graduated from East Bay HS. Catt attended Florida State Fire College before embarking on a 30+ year career in the mental health field. She worked at PEMHS, Charter, and Morton Plant Hospital, before working her last 24 years for Baycare Health System.
Catt was preceded in death by her father, Jeffrey Moses. She is survived by her spouse Sharon Dunaway-Alt; mother Kay Moses; siblings Amanda (Chad) Moses-Basney, Jennifer (Ken Hughes) Dunaway, Dusty Dunaway and Ricky Dunaway; and nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Outside of work Catt officiated youth, middle school and high school basketball, football and flag football for 15 years. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in St. Petersburg where she served on the pastor search committee. She loved plants and was a member of Florida West Coast Orchid Society. She will be remembered for her compassion, big heart, care for others, sharp wit, sense of humor and famous "Cattisms."
There are two services to celebrate and remember Catt. There is a Gathering of Family and Friends on Friday, November 1st from 3pm-6pm at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr MLK Jr Street North, St Petersburg. The Remembrance Service begins at 4:30pm.
On Saturday, November 2nd at 11am there will be a service at Lao Christian Conference of Churches (Former home of Trinity United Church of Christ), located at 1150 49th Street North, St. Petersburg. Following the service there will be a luncheon in the church hall.
