Mercedes Elizabeth Persing
January 15th, 1971 - October 11th, 2024
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to Altagarcia Mercedes Rodriguez and Thomas Daniel Santos. When she was 12 years old, she moved from the Dominican Republic to Manhattan, New York City in pursuit of the American dream. She attended Junior Highschool 22, Seward Park High School, and later New York University. In 2006, Mercedes moved from New York City to Colorado Springs to be closer to her sisters and in February of 2013 she found the love of her life, William Persing.
Her biggest joys were family gatherings, talking and showing pictures of her grandson Dahriel, working with special education children, reading her Bible, life at home with William, and thrift shopping with her sister Griselida. Mercedes will be dearly missed. Like her, we believe that we will be united again at the second coming of Christ and then share eternity in the presence of God.
Mercedes is survived by her husband William Persing, siblings; Thomas Daniel Santos Jr., Ester Gutierrez, and Griselida Mercedes Sosa, her children; Andy Amaro and Sabrina Amaro, and grandson Dahriel Perez.
