James "Jim" D. Vosler

James D. Vosler, 91, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, at the Fraser Health Center on Hilton Head Island, SC.  James (Jim) was born on October 25, 1933, in Mount Vernon, NY to Mary Passeggiato and James Vosler.  He attended NYU and Iona College and he served in the Navy until 1954.  He was married to Elizabeth (Betty) Loffler for 64 years and raised four children in Larchmont, NY.  Jim worked at Bender’s Building Supply Company for 33 years.  He was an avid reader, had a love of history, was passionate about gardening and was always one for a story.  In 1999, Jim and Betty made Hilton Head their home.  He often could be found on the bocce court or picking his prized Vidalia onions as a member of the Hilton Head Plantation Farmer’s Club. Jim volunteered at Second Helpings and the early reading programs at Hilton Head Elementary School.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his son James Vosler (Shirley) of South Salem, NY; daughter Debra Markes (John) of Woodstock, NY; daughter Christine Vosler of Boynton Beach, FL; son Michael Vosler (Christy) of Lakewood Ranch, FL; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren;  brother Robert Vosler of Suffern, NY; sister-in-law Barbara Loffler of Hilton Head, SC; sister-in-law Joan Murphy (Lawrence) of South Windsor, CT; and 11 nieces and nephews. 

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 10:00am at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church. The family is forever grateful for the love and care he received from the staff at Fraser Health Center and Crescent Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY  10306.
