Robert Louis Seth

Robert (Bob) Louis Seth, 84, of Lutz, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in Lutz. He died peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Tampa, Bob was the son of the late Alby and Evelyn Seth. He attended Westshore Elementary, Plant High, and the University of South Florida. On September 14, 1962, Bob married Leslie Stephens Seth in Tampa, Florida and was married for 62 years.

Bob liked to try new things. He was a Coast Guard Reserve Aviation Structural Mechanic, a piano repairman, and a surveyor before serving with the Tampa Police Department (TPD) for 45 years. He began his career with TPD in 1962 in the motor unit as a motorcycle patrolman, then a corporal and a detective specializing in fraud, followed by a tour of duty in Criminal Intelligence. He then changed to Security Coordinator and aside from being the bodyguard and driver for Mayors Bob Martinez and Sandra Freedman, Bob provided executive protection for other dignitaries including Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and Mary Kay Ash. He finished his career with TPD in 2007 with Crime Prevention in the Westshore Business District.

Bob was a Christian who loved God. He was a devout parishioner of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lutz. He was the father of many well-loved dogs and his hobbies included flying single engine aircraft, bee keeping, wedding photography, freshwater fishing, building fishing rods, playing the piano and vibraphone, and playing in and conducting the Tampa Police Department’s Dance Band. Additionally, Bob loved collecting model planes, knives, cameras, guns, time pieces, fishing paraphernalia, and all kinds of antiques.

He is survived by his loving wife Leslie, sons, Flint Seth (Sandy) and Brian Seth (Jennifer), granddaughters Devanie Moschella (Bill), Brittany Scaffedi (Bobby) and Jayce Seth, great grandchildren, Anthony and Mia Moschella, and Carmine, Niya, Dominick, and Lucca Scaffedi.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 7th at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 20735 Leonard Rd, Lutz, Florida 33558. Burial will follow at Lutz Cemetery, 201-217 5th Ave NE, Lutz, Florida 33549.
