Sheila J. Smith, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024, at home surrounded by family.
Born on March 27, 1926, in Amsterdam, a daughter of the late Levern and Ethel (Claus) Staley.
A lifelong resident of the area, Sheila was a graduate of Fultonville High School.
Sheila married her loving husband, Donald Smith, and together they owned their own farm in Fultonville. She enthusiastically joined in the farm work and loved animals, especially all her dogs. Sadly, Donald passed away on September 13,1978.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Bode (Michael); sons, Bruce Smith (Jeanne) and Brian Smith (Laurie); sister, Margaret Eastman; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Terence Smith and her sister, Clara Kilpatrick.
Services for Sheila will be held privately as she will be laid to rest with her husband in Auriesville Cemetery.
Sheila’s care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville.
