Joan Marie Lukan
April 3rd, 1934 - October 22nd, 2024
Joan Marie Lukan, born April 3, 1934, at Holy Cross, Iowa to Adolph and Marie (Hefel) Gansemer. She married Marvin J. Lukan in 1953 and was a Navy wife for the next 18 years, which brought the family to Santa Cruz California in 1968. After Marv retired from the military they continued to make Santa Cruz their home.
She has been a long-time resident of Santa Cruz County and was retired from the William Wrigley Jr. Company. Joan was an active member of Resurrection Catholic Community in Aptos. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, reading, and was a loyal fan of the San Francisco Giants.
She is survived by her four children, Debra Lukan, Kevin Lukan (Kathleen), Gail Lukan, and Paul Lukan (Susan). Her seven grandchildren, Bradley Musich, Josef Lukan (Marc), Kristin Nisen (Doug), Craig Musich (Allison), Erin Lukan-Lutz (Austin), Jennifer Lukan, and Jordan Hagen (Kelly). Her four great-grandchildren, Haiden, Adalynn, Levi and Liam.
Also survived by her brothers Matthew Gansemer (Dotty), Edward Gansemer, and brother-in-law Philip Breitbach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, in 1995, as well as both of her parents, her sisters Rose Ann Breitbach and Helen Wolf, brother-in-law Dan Wolf, and sister-in-law Ruth Gansemer.
Contributions to the charity of your choice, Hospice of Santa Cruz County or Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Library.
A funeral mass will be held at Resurrection Church in Aptos at a later date.
