It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Katherine Elizabeth Chreston has passed away unexpectedly in Martinez, Ca at the age of 36.

Katie was born on February 10, 1988 in Walnut Creek, CA arriving two weeks late and continued on to march to the beat of her own drum. She attended St. Raymond’s Catholic School in Dublin, Diablo Vista Middle School in Danville, and graduated High School in 2006. As a young girl Katie was smart and talented with a passion for music, poetry, fashion, and the outdoors. During these years Katie was a triple threat - she excelled academically, wrote poetry and attended theater arts camp. She was an accomplished piano and flute player. She also was an athlete who played several sports including swim team and basketball.

She received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University of Chico. After earning her degree she lived in Walnut Creek, Martinez, and Port Huron, MI where she held jobs in retail and as a bank teller in both California and Michigan.

Katie adored her family pets especially her cats - Cuddles, MooMoo, Peter, and Simon. She enjoyed being outdoors either running or walking. Katie is remembered as a sweet, funny, and loving daughter, sister, niece, and cousin who was loved very dearly by her family. Katie adored children and always wanted to be a Mom.

She is survived by her Mom, Karen Chreston of Clayton, CA; Dad, Keith Chreston and his wife Zhenya Chreston of Crossville, TN; her brother and sister and their families: Chris, Angel, Connor, Leah Chreston; Laura, Jake, Kensley, Brady, & Kace Christophe; her grandfather – Doug Harris of Walnut Creek; nine aunts and uncles – Amy & Richard, Yvonne & Danny, Kevin & Holly, Jeff & Julie, and Janice; and seven cousins – Tarra, Audene, Myles, Myke, Meredith, Colleen, and Adam.

Her life will forever be remembered by her family and we are assured she is at peace in heaven with our family who have gone before her including her beloved grandparents and Uncles Al and Andy.

A celebration of Katie’s life will be held in a small private event to be determined at a later date. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers you have sent to us during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Covenant House California, who supports unhoused teens, at covenanthousecalifornia.org
