Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Fidel Morales Cardenas
January 2nd, 1949 - November 2nd, 2024
Fidel Cardenas, Sr. passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Homedale, Idaho, in the early morning of November 2, 2024. He passed after courageously battling cancer since being diagnosed in December 2023. Born on January 2, 1949, in San Juan Citala, Mexico, Fidel was a hard worker who valued his family and was quick to help anyone who may need it.
Fidel made the journey to Los Angeles, California, at the age of 22, with his wife, Silvia (Pacas) Cardenas, where they started their family while working as laborers. Fidel and family moved to Homedale, Idaho, in 1983, at the age of 34 years old. After moving to Idaho, Fidel spent the remaining years of his working career seeing much of the country as a Wildland Firefighter. He was a Hotshot Crew Leader for the Vale Interagency Hotshot Crew until battling for his life after contracting trichinosis on a job.
After recovering, he enjoyed his remaining years keeping his vehicles clean and shiny, working outside in the yard, and loving his children and grandchildren. After his cancer diagnosis, he bravely faced a variety of treatments and remained in good spirits, enough to arm wrestle anyone willing. Fidel will be greatly missed.
Fidel is preceded in death by his loving wife, Silvia Cardenas (2020). He is survived by his children: Elvia Cardenas, Rosa Linda Bernabe, Fidel Cardenas, Jr., and Amalia Jimenez; his five grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. Fidel is further survived and loved by the many additional relatives and friends not listed.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 27 E. Owyhee Avenue in Homedale, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm.
