Obituary for Scott Calvin Kadous

Scott Calvin Kadous, 76, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, with family by his side. Born to Calvin J. and Lois M. Kadous on December 11, 1947, in Ames, Iowa, Scott lived a life marked by dedication to family, hard work, steadfast wisdom and quiet accomplishment.

As part of a military family, Scott's early years were spent in various locations across the United States and around the world. This experience helped shape his adaptable and balanced perspective on life. He earned his B.S. degree in Wildlife Biology from New Mexico State University and spent the younger part of his career farming and ranching. As time went on, he transitioned to solar sales and then ultimately found his professional home at State Farm Insurance, where he served as a Claims Specialist until retirement. It was a career that earned him respect for his fairness and work ethic.

On September 28, 1974, Scott married Joanne (Piehler) Kadous, beginning a loving partnership that would span 50 years. Together they raised three children: Michael, Mindae and John. Scott was a devoted father who remained actively present in his children's lives, coaching baseball for his oldest and youngest sons, supporting countless school and church activities, equipping his kids with life skills, and encouraging a love for animals and the outdoors. He got a kick out of watching his five grandchildren grow and run around the house when they would visit. He was known as Papa and Boppa to Jude, Emery, Shea, Leo and Trafford who brought him immense Joy.

Scott was known for his practical skills and innovative mind, always finding ways to improve the family home and acreage that he took pride in for over 40 years. This included planting dozens of the family’s annual live Christmas trees throughout the property. He spent countless hours in his garage with tools and country tunes, fixing anything that came his way. He approached problems with the same measured wisdom that defined his approach to life. Never one for extremes, he offered balanced perspectives and steady guidance that his family and friends came to rely upon.

Scott is survived by his loving wife Joanne; his children Michael (Katie), Mindae (Kevin), and John; his five grandchildren; and his brothers Brandy (Laura), Tony (Radonna) and Tom; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on December 2, 2024, at 10 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Tucson (1800 N Camino Pio Decimo, Tucson, AZ 85715) with a reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made toward planting more trees at https://onetreeplanted.org/products/gift-trees-in-memory . A fitting tribute to a man who understood the value of putting down roots and nurturing growth. Please use jfkadous@gmail.com when a gift has been made.
