William Swan Kallappa, 82, passed away on February 25, 2024 in Olympia, Washington. He was born October 3,1941 to James and Josephine Kallappa in Neah Bay Washington. He grew up in Neah Bay and was a longtime resident of the Skokomish Valley in Shelton, Washington and also lived in Metlakatla, Alaska.

Bill attended Seattle Bible Training School. He married the love of his life, Colleen Kay Campbell on June 24, 1966, at the Skokomish Indian Assembly of God Church. Although he pastored churches early, his ministry was focused on evangelism. He spent extensive time traveling wherever he was asked to go to share the word of God. He would pack a bag, his guitar and his Bible and go where he was called to preach. In the latter years of his ministry he answered the call to be the Chaplin at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, Washington before taking on his final calling to teach Bible studies weekly to the participants of the Discipleship Program at Gethsemane ministries also in Shelton, Washington.

Bill was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather. Along with Colleen, he taught his children how to love and lead a life of service to others. He loved his life in the Skokomish Valley and tending to his garden where fruits and vegetables were plentiful. His garden bounty fed many mouths and souls. He also loved the game of basketball and coached many youth along the way.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Colleen. He is survived by his twins, daughter, Kari Joelle Cook and her husband Steve, son, William Swan Kallappa II and his wife, Maia Bellon, grand children Sharon Rose “Essita” Cook, Candace Dawn Cook, and Talia Danielle Kallappa; brothers, James Kallappa and George Kallappa.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. View Alliance Church, 314 E. J Street, Shelton, Washington, 98584.

There will be a potluck dinner following the service.
