James Brown Sr., affectionately known as Super J.B., passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the age of 85 in St. Petersburg, FL. Born on November 14, 1938, in Quincy, FL, James lived a full life, marked by devotion to his family, his work, and his faith.

James was the beloved husband of Maude for an incredible 65 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising their children: James Brown Jr., Maxine Brown, Alphonso Robinson Brown, Johnny Robinson Brown, Terrill (Stacie) Brown, and Terrance (Patrice) Brown. He was a cherished grandfather to 14 grandchildren: Quiwonia, Latasha, Sharika, Natobi, Taylor, Jasmine, Devin, Maceo, Christopher, Aaron, Zachary, Beres, Julien, and Jacob. His legacy further extends to 10 great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory and the values he instilled in them.  James was predeceased by his son, Harold (Julie) Brown, as well as eight of his siblings. He leaves behind daughter-in-law, Julie Brown, and  his sister Ida Mae Brown, who, along with a host of nieces and nephews, will fondly remember his gentle spirit and loving nature.

For many years, James served the community working for the City of St. Petersburg sanitation department, from which he retired. His colleagues knew him as a hard worker, a man of few words who let his dedication and reliability speak for themselves.

A man of faith, James regularly attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. James had a passion for the outdoors, and he found solace and joy in fishing, often sharing his catch with family and friends. He was a family man through and through, always putting his loved ones first and ensuring they were well cared for. As a devoted husband, he stood as a testament to commitment and unconditional love.

James was known for his culinary skills, especially when it came to cooking up a BBQ or soul food feast. His cooking was more than just a hobby; it was a way for him to express his love and to bring people together.

Those who knew James would describe him as loving and gentle. He was a quiet man, but his presence was always felt. His actions spoke volumes, and his influence was as comforting as it was profound.

James's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
