Memorial

Cathy Simmering, born November 1943 and passed away October 2024.

In her words….

"I'm writing my obituary to all my family and friends because I want one more chance to say thank you to you all for walking with me on my journey of life.  You, and you know who you are, have been there for me, encouraging, guiding, teaching, loving and most importantly have shared your life with me in so many ways.  This what has made my life so worthwhile and meaningful.

1943 was the year of my birth into a loving, Christian home with my parents, brother and two sisters.  In 1965, Dick and I married, and we spent 26 years together.

The highest privilege of my life has been a mother to two beautiful, both inside and out, most caring and compassionate daughters one could possibly have.  I'm so proud of you, Angela and Tricia!  And the bright sparkling stars in my life are my grandchildren, Makena and Parker, who affectionally call me “Omi” (grandmother in German) and I am grateful for the joy they have brought to my life.

When I wake up every morning, it is with a grateful heart for another day of life, because I know for certain I am a child of God, who has chosen to give me a new day. While there have been moments of doubt and questioning about my faith at times, there has never been one moment when I did not feel I was in the presence of God, all the while being loved and protected.  My faith has been what has mattered the most to me in my life.  It has made it possible for truly to be ablet to “Yes” to life.

When we are created by God, he has a dream for us.  I've tried to do the best I could to make that dream happen.

Now, if you are thinking of me and would like to do something to honor my memory, consider these suggestions.  You would make me happy.

  • Be a “life-giver” to others
  • Write a letter to someone and tell them how important they have been to your life
  • Make the telephone call when someone comes to your mind.  You may never know what that phone call meant to them.
  • Volunteer at a church, a nursing home, a school, or an agency whose mission it is to help others
  • Forgive
  • Love
  • Care
  • Be compassionate
  • Visit a lonely person and ask them to tell you about their lives
  • Play
  • Be grateful for every little thing
  • Pray
  • Make someone smile today in any way you can
  • Take good care of yourself so you have much to give to other people
  • Be grateful, be grateful, and be grateful again"

Memorial Service will be on November 16, 2024, at 10:30am at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 2919 Wilson Ave., Loveland, CO 80538
