It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Oehler, Jr. on November 6, 2024 at the age of 94.

William (Bill) was born in Holyoke, and was the son of Flora Heinicke and William Oehler, Sr. He was raised in South Hadley. In 1951, he married the first love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty) Seiffert. They were married four months shy of fifty years before she passed. Together they had a son, William F. Oehler.

In 2003, William married the second love of his life, Jan Attinger Berger. He and Jan lived in South Hadley. They became snow birds, and flew to Lake Worth for the winter.

William was a graduate of South Hadley High School. He received a BA in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Western New England College. He was employed at Fountain Plating in West Springfield for 40 years. He retired as Vice President of Services. Over the course of his career, he was recognized for his expertise and service with many awards.

His joy and passion was raising beautiful afghan hounds with Betty. He also loved to travel and play golf with Jan. William was a very skilled woodworker, and tackled every project with tremendous energy and forethought. He was very accomplished.

William will be greatly missed by his son William and his wife Wendy, his three grandchildren: Melissa and William Towers and their children Liam and Avery; Jennifer Oehler and her children Fynnleigh and Calleigh; and Selena and Eduardo Zimmitti and their son Rocco.

William was predeceased by his sister Mildred Barrett, and his brother Harold Oehler. He also leaves several nieces and nephews: Margaret Stephanian and her husband Stephen, Susan Oehler, Laurelae Oehler, and Harold Michael Oehler and his wife Stephanie Summers.

William’s passing will also be mourned by Gretta and Larry Tucker and their children Tim and Chris; Susan Maggio and her children Kim and Nick Bunner and their children Sage and Ethan, Rick and Stacie Maggio and their children Cody and Mia, and RJ Maggio and Suprat Saely and their daughter Olivia; Barbara and Paul Boucher; and Eric Berger and Gail Sherman and their daughters Emma, Molly, and Paige and her husband Eric Zeller.
