Kathleen Keohane
June 18th, 1933 - November 7th, 2024
Kathleen (Minga) Keohane nee Shea, 91, died Thursday November 7 at Mercy Hospital. She was born in the town of Dingle in County Kerry, Ireland. She migrated to New York in 1949, where she met her husband Jeremiah, who was from County Cork, Ireland. The couple then moved to the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, where they raised their four children. Kathleen was given the nickname “Minga” by her first grandchild. She got hooked on the Boston Red Sox during the 1986 World Series and was an avid viewer of game shows with Wheel of Fortune being her favorite. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Jeremiah, oldest son Thomas and grandson Sean Keohane. She is survived by her sister Ann Ryan of Springfield, three children, Michael of East Longmeadow, Terri Grabowski (Doug) of Granby, MA, Joanne Kennedy (Frank) of Granby, MA. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Christopher Grabowski, Jennifer Pilegi, Steven Grabowski, Joseph Grabowski, Cara Keohane, James Kennedy, Connor Kennedy, Jeremy Keohane, Mackenzie Keohane and eight great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Kenna, Luca, Jovie, Levi, Leah, Owen and Everett.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday 11/14, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby, MA. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Donations can be made in Kathleen's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
