Lana Beth Grandon
July 20th, 1961 - November 8th, 2024
Lana Beth Grandon, 63, of Stamping Ground, Wife, Mother, Dance Mom, Gymnastics Mom, Eagle Scout Mom and Disney Girl as well as retired Assistant Attorney General and Victim Advocate passed away on Friday November 8, 2024 at Baptist Health Group Lexington as an Organ Donor for Network for Hope following a stroke the preceding weekend.
Lana was born on July 20, 1961 in Covington, Kentucky the daughter of Eddy and Wava (Huggins) Grandon of West Paducah, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Greg Fuchs, sons Christopher and Michael Fuchs, daughter Kristen Fuchs and sister Lisa (Denny) Alvey as well as nieces Allyson (Kent) Jones and Kaylynn (Aaron) Smith, and their children.
She grew up in West Kentucky attending Heath High School and Milburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in West Paducah and spending summers at the family cabin on Kentucky Lake.
A graduate of Murray State University and the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, Lana was admitted to the practice of law in Kentucky, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
She began her practice of law in 1986 with a one year clerkship for Justice Roy Vance of the Kentucky Supreme Court followed by a thirty-two year career as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General serving under seven Kentucky Attorneys General and retiring as the longest continuously serving female Assistant Attorney General in December, 2019 together with her husband and fellow Assistant Attorney General Greg.
Lana’s legal career was highlighted by decades of tireless victim advocacy for crime victims and their families during the worst times of their life. And six months after retiring she was asked to continue serving those victims at the Justice Cabinet’s Grants Management Division, especially through Violence Against Women Act grants. Her legal legacy included numerous published opinions, statewide task forces, legislative initiatives, training conferences and manuals, publications, and public speaking always the advocate for the victim.
Lana had much to be proud of but she reserved her pride for her three children whom she supported literally across the world as they pursued their individual passions in gymnastics, dance, Boy Scouts, robotics and youth exchange spending countless hours on bleachers waiting and in the driver’s seat shuttling between Stamping Ground, Georgetown, Frankfort, Versailles, and Lexington and many times going to three or more in the same night logging on average 3000 miles on the road a month year round.
Lana’s personal passion from the time she experienced “The Carrousel of Progress” and “It’s A Small World” at the 1964 Worlds Fair in New York City has been all things Disney especially Walt Disney World. She honeymooned there, celebrated first birthdays, 21st birthdays 40th birthdays and her own 60th birthday there but enjoyed mostly going just because with one, two or all three of her children.
She and her selfless kindness will be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday November 17th at Clark’s Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles Road, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601 with visitation from 2:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. and service at 4:30 p.m.. Barbara Whaley, M.Div. presiding.

which Lana supported in her advocacy work through the years at both the Office of the Attorney General and Justice Cabinet.
