E. James Reese Funeral Home
Gloria Anne Hertz
July 6th, 1940 - October 7th, 2024
Gloria Anne Hertz, passed from her wonderful life on October 7, 2024, at the age of 84.
Gloria was born on July 6, 1940, in Bagley, Iowa, later moving to Florida with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Izola Evans; and her siblings Jack Evans and James Evans. She is survived by her husband Michael Hertz; her sister Sue Hofmeister; her children Teresa (Kenny) Kmet, Terry Jr. (Tanya) DeVlieger, Theordore (Patti) DeVlieger, Troy (Jill) DeVlieger, and Laura (Jorge) Campos; her grandchildren Kelli, Amanda, Sarah, Nathan, Anna, Holly, Nicole, Stephanie, Tyler, Joshua, Michael, and Miranda; and 19 great-grandchildren, to whom she was Gigi. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends, who loved her dearly.
Gloria was a kind and loving woman whose favorite pastimes were music, sports, gardening, playing cards, and cooking. She enjoyed sharing all those things with her family. The TV was always tuned to her favorite teams, including the Rays, the Buccaneers, and the Gators. She enjoyed singing and playing the dobro, and records lined her shelves. When she was not playing music or traveling the country with her husband Michael, she was enjoying the beach, collecting shells and lighthouse memorabilia, playing Hearts, or cooking for her ever-increasing family and friends. Her loved ones will remember her by the smell of Christmas trees and food in the oven. No holiday was complete without Gloria’s banana bread and cookies. She is most easily pictured in Christmas sweaters, hair perfectly curled, standing next to her grandchildren covered in flour from making cookies. Her lively personality and strength will remain with those closest to her.
Services will be held at The National Cemetery at Bay Pines, Florida on November 18, 2024 at 10:00 am, followed by a reception for friends and family in the fellowship hall of Seminole United Methodist Church at 5400 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, FL at 11:00 am. While flowers are welcome, in lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Tunnels to Towers; www.t2t.org.
