Dennis Gibson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Dennis Gibson, age 76, who left us peacefully while at home on Oct 7, 2024.  Dennis was born on October 06, 1948 to John W. and Emma L (Laufer) Gibson in Greeley Colorado.  Dennis grew up in Evans and Graduated from Greeley West High School. He took a few classes at Colorado State College (now UNC) and also CSU.

Builder petty officer 3rd class John Dennis Gibson served in the U.S Navy for 4 years during Vietnam 1967 and saw combat.  His awards are National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Vietnam Service medal and Combat Action Ribbon.

Dennis married his first wife, and they had John Dennis “J.D.” Gibson Jr. 

Dennis married Sandra Jean Gibson of Greeley July 13, 1995.  

Dennis built beautiful custom homes in Greeley for over 30 years. He also opened Gibby’s restaurant for a few years in Greeley. He enjoyed many things like hunting, cooking, golfing and spending time with great friends and family. 

Dennis is survived by his wife Sandy Gibson of Greeley, his son J.D. (Diedre) Gibson  of Northglenn, his stepchildren Tyson (Kara) Schroeder of Windsor, CO and Tara (Prezemek) Borek of Naples, FL. He is also survived by his brother Jay (Pam) Gibson of Denison, TX and sister-in-law Harriet Gibson of Greeley.  Dennis had two step Grandchildren Mason and Madilyn Schroeder. 

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, sister Anne Sughroue and Brother Glen Gibson.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to the “Weld County Veterans Memorial” for Bittersweet Park and sent to Weld County Veterans Memorial, PO Box 1016, Greeley, CO 80632.  Condolences may be shared at AdamsonCares.com.
