James Calvin Odum was called home to his Lord on November 6th, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on May 14th, 1935, James lived a life filled with devotion, service and love. An esteemed resident of Winter Haven, he spent his years nurturing faith, family and community, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A man of deep conviction and virtue, James was known for his unwavering faith. A devoted Christian, he lived firmly rooted in the teachings of his faith, imparting those values to his family and those close to him.
On September 23rd, 1960, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Patricia Odum. Together, they built a nurturing and faith-filled home, raising three wonderful children - Michael Odum, Kevin Odum and Lisa PerMar.
James retired after dedicating 40 years to USSAC as an electrician. James proudly served in the United States Army. Honorably discharged in 1960. He carried the values of service and loyalty with him throughout his life, extending kindness and respect to everyone he encountered.
James is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Patricia Odum; his sons, Michael and Kevin; his daughter, Lisa; and granddaughters, Cene' and Logan; his siblings, Dolly, Charles, Earl, Sharon and Milton, each of them carries a part of his spirit and will continue to honor his legacy of love and faith. He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil; his mother Stella Mae; and siblings, Joan, Betty Jean, Lamar and Dewey.
A celebration of life and his entrance into eternal peace will be held Friday, November 22nd, 2024, at Kersey Funeral Home in Auburndale FL. Viewing at 10:00am. Memorial service at 11:00am. Burial with military honors will immediate follow services.
