Rosemary F. Horne

Rosemary Horne, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

She was born on October 20, 1956, in northern Virginia, Rosemary grew up in McLean, Virginia attending Bishop O’Connell High School. After graduating she attended Virginia Tech University, earning an undergraduate degree in home economics and a master’s in business administration. Later she earned a degree in Data Processing from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro.

In 1980 Rosemary married Rick Horne and they enjoyed 44 years together. They had three children and raised a family in Greensboro, NC. She was very active as a volunteer at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School and at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. After the children headed off to college Rosemary returned to the workforce as a Computer Analyst.  She initially did consulting but chose to work full time for Novant Health from 2014 to 2024. Rosemary was appreciated for her knowledge and friendship, her caring heart and her eagerness to help others.

Rosemary loved the beach and in 2019 Rick and Rosemary moved to Hilton Head Island.  She took long walks on the beach and from their home she enjoyed watching the birds, the turtles, and an occasional alligator which she always named Gus.

 She is survived by her husband Richard E. Horne (Rick); daughter, Melissa Byrnes and son-in-law Robert Byrnes; son, Matthew Horne and daughter-in-law Maggie Devaney Horne; son, Andrew Horne and two grandsons Nicholas Richard Byrnes and William Everett Horne.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church located on Hilton Head Island, SC at 10:00am on Friday, November 15, 2024.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
