Allan J Dupuis 1939-2024
Allan Dupuis from Holyoke and So. Hadley MA, died quietly in his sleep in Englewood FL where he lived for the past 37 years. Born and raised in Holyoke MA, he moved with his family to South Hadley in 1973. Allan married the love of his life, Patricia in 1957 and together they raised 4 children. He was predeceased by Patricia in December 2014.
Allan passed quietly in his sleep with his family at his bedside. He was very well known and much loved both in Holyoke MA and Englewood FL as a man who gave much of his time to serve others. Allan was President of The Holyoke Boys Club Alumni Association and volunteered with the youth Golden Gloves boxers. He worked the bingo's to raise money for the boy's club and a multitude of other events to support them. Allan, a Union Laborer, also worked several seasons for the Holyoke Millers running the concession and beer stands.
Although retired when he moved to FL, he became known for his skills with concrete and was known all over his community as the guy to build your sidewalks, foundations and flower boxes. Allan found much joy and community spirit working the dinners and parties at the Edgewater Club in Lemon Bay/Holiday III Estates in Englewood, where he was known as the ticket man and "The Beer Man" for the 2 jobs he did for years.
He had a reputation as a friendly and fun guy who would always be there to help out. He will be very missed.
Allan leaves 4 children, Dawn and Tim Midura of Ware, MA., Laury and Jerry Couture of Arcadia, FL, Lynne and Fred Rochon of Chicopee MA and Tim and Laura Dupuis also of Chicopee, MA. He will also be missed by his brother David whom he had the most fun with over his long life. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Kelly, Jason, Sara, Andrea. Angela and Tim Jr along with their spouses and 8 great grandchildren,and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in both FL and MA. In FL, Visitation will be on 11/14 from 6-7 p.m. followed by a graveside service in South Hadley, MA at Notre Dame Cemetery on Newton St. on Wednesday Nov 20th.
Allan was a communicant at St. Patrick's Church in So. Hadley and St Raphael's in Engelwood FL.
