Bonita Ruth Marchant Wegner passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was born on May 18, 1944, to Ashley and Myrna Marchant in Melbourne, Arkansas. Bonita was a 1962 graduate of Melbourne High School.

After high school, Bonita moved to Kansas City for work. She met Gerald and they were married on January 24, 1965. The couple then moved to Denver in 1973 for Gerald’s job. Coming from a rural area, Bonita made the big city her home.

Bonita truly lived life through simple pleasures: chatting with friends and family, enjoying fellowship with church members, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was a wonderful homemaker and loving wife to her husband of 58 years.

Bonita will be remembered for her strong faith in God and has been part of the Church of Christ her whole life. She had a wonderful sense of fashion. She loved to wear the latest trends and always had the most stylish hair. She loved to dance to her favorite musician, Elvis, and never missed an opportunity to show her ability to do the twist all the way down to the floor and back up. One of her many talents was making Christmas ornaments by hand. She spent hours designing and meticulously creating beautiful works of art that she proudly displayed on her tree and gave as gifts to friends and family. When she wasn’t organizing lunches with church friends, you could find her deep in a mystery or romance novel. She loved puzzles and keeping a clean and organized home. Bonita never missed a milestone. You could always count on a card in the mailbox when it was your birthday. If you knew Bonita, you would know her amazing laugh and wonderful Arkansas accent that set her apart.

Bonita is preceded in death by her parents, Ashley Luster Marchant and Myrna Garner Marchant, her only sister, Gleneta Rose Marchant Martin, brother-in-laws, Bob Martin, and Ricky Wegner. She is survived by her husband, Gerald, sister-in-law, Mary Jean Bennett (husband Stephen Bennett), nieces Dani McDaniel (husband Jimmy McDaniel), Amy Nielsen (husband Jeffry Nielsen), Kathryn Getman, and nephews, Mark Martin (wife Lisa) and Michael Wegner. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Bonita touched are invited to the Northwest Church of Christ at 5255 W 98th Ave, Westminster, CO 80020, at 3pm on Sunday, November 17, 2024, to honor and remember Bonita’s wonderful life. Dessert and coffee will be served after the service.
