Lucille Giroux
February 6th, 1937 - November 12th, 2024
South Hadley-Lucille C. (Ponton) Giroux, 87, passed away November 12, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Holyoke on February 6, 1937, she was the daughter of Armand and Doucia (Chartier)Ponton. Lucille lived in Willimansett before moving to Granby where she lived for over 30 years, most currently she resided in South Hadley. Lucille possessed an extraordinary talent as a seamstress, filling homes with warmth and beauty through her quilts and knitted creations, she also had a beautiful collection of dolls. Yet it was the time spent with her family that she held most dear, each moment a precious gift in her eyes. She will be dearly missed by her three children, Barbara C. Young (Jim), Robert Giroux (Robbin), and Rob Giroux (Martha). Grandchildren, Steven Young, Heather Scott (Jay), Alexis, Logan, Emily Scott and Ashley Young also survive her. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 66 years, Raymond J. Giroux and siblings, Roger Ponton, Jeannette McQuat and Claire Brunnell. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19th from 4:00-7:00pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:00 am to follow in procession to a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Holyoke VNA & Hospice.
