With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joelyn Laverne Thur, our beloved mother, who left us on November 8, 2024, at the age of 93, in Lighthouse Point, FL. Born on September 17, 1931, in Cleveland, OH, Joelyn was a remarkable woman and Christian whose strength and resilience shone brightly throughout her life.

Joelyn met her husband and our father, George Thur, at a church dance and got married shortly after high school. While our father was serving in the army, she became a mother, welcoming their first child. She supported our father through college and raised four children while balancing her career as a legal secretary and later as a residential real estate agent once the kids were all grown and on their own. Ater the untimely passing of our father, she found love again with James Eisenmann, a cherished family friend, seamlessly blending their families together.

Throughout the last decade of her life, Joelyn faced numerous health challenges, yet she remained steadfast in her faith and remained courageous, strong and positive to overcome her health challenges. Her unwavering spirit and dedication to her family, friends and faith were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was often called by Shary, her “Angel on Earth”, her presence left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to experience her love and kindness.

Joelyn’s legacy lives on through her four children and their spouses – Carolyn and Fred Rogers, George and Bonnie Thur, Tom and Tina Thur, and Shary and Paul Pecaro – as well as her stepchildren, Beloved stepson Jimmy Eisenmann and stepdaughter Barb Eisenmann that were like her own children. She was a proud grandmother to George and Charlie Rogers, Christina and Benet Tribble, Tony and Rafaela Thur, Lauren and Jacqueline Pecaro, Christopher Eisenmann and her adopted grandson Rich Shulyepin. She was a loving great grandmother to Isabella, Lindsey, and Benjamin Tribble and Luca Thur and upcoming grandchild, Lorenzo Thur. Joelyn has one surviving brother and spouse, Edward and Joyce Hrebek.

Family was everything to Joelyn. Her home was a haven filled with love, laughter and unwavering support and she cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. During the last 18 months prior to her passing, it was Paul and Shary’s honor to have her reside with them at their home in Lighthouse Point, FL where Joelyn brought so much joy, love and laughter into their lives during that time.
