All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Ott-Vidrik Aring
April 11th, 1936 - November 5th, 2024
Ott-Vidrik Aring, affectionately known as Fred, Papa, Grandpa Fred, and Freddie, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, at the age of 88. Born in Orajoe, Estonia in 1936, Fred's early life was marked by resilience and courage. During World War II, he and his family escaped to Sweden, and in 1953, they made a new home in New York.
After graduating from high school in New York, Fred joined the United States Air Force, which led him to San Antonio, Texas. It was there, at the Alamo, that he was awarded his U.S. citizenship and met his first wife, Sammy Grace Smith. Together, they moved to El Paso, Texas, where they raised their children: Veronica, Kevin, Kristjan, and Mary Kathryn.
Fred later married Constance (Connie) Hemenway, who had a son, Matt. Soon, they welcomed a new daughter, Maili. In 1980, the family relocated to Colorado, where Fred continued to build a successful career in computer technology and sales.
Fred's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid golfer and dedicated over 10 years to volunteering at the International Golf Tournament in Colorado. His community involvement was extensive, including active participation in the Lion's Club, the Denver Colorado Saint Patrick's Day Parade Committee, the International Order of Rocky Mountain Goats, El Jebel Shriners, and the Littleton Elks Lodge #1650.
Fred was known for his positive attitude, charm, and the joy he brought to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, cherished by his wife Connie, children Veronica, Kevin, Kristjan, Mary Kathryn and Maili, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Vello and sister Sirje. Fred was predeceased by his parents Nadeshda and Otto, brothers Roomet and Jack, sister Maili, and stepson, Matt.
A private interment will be held at Pike's Peak National Cemetery on December 6, 2024, followed the next day by a celebration of life with family and friends in Littleton, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fred's memory to the Littleton Elks Lodge #1650 at 5749 S Curtice St, Littleton, CO 80120.
Fred's life was a testament to resilience, love, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
