Sharon "Buttercup" Ann Grant
May 27th, 1957 - November 13th, 2024
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
**Sharon "Buttercup" Ann Grant**
In the whirlwind of life, some people's laughter echoes longer than others, and Sharon "Buttercup" Ann Grant's laugh could almost reach the heavens—it's certainly reached Hackensack, New Jersey, and beyond. Born on May 27, 1957, she graced this world with her lively spirit and was always ready with a witty remark, her trademark smile, and a laugh that could melt any blue mood away. She left us for the stars on November 13, 2024, in Tampa, Florida, a city that, like her, was always buzzing with warmth and sunshine.
A genuine New Jersey native, Sharon, the spirited daughter of the late Montenegro's, graduated from Hackensack High School, leaving an indelible mark that included being voted "Most Likely to Brighten Your Day." Sharon was special like that—wherever she went, light followed.
Though the pages of her professional life are yet to be penned, Sharon’s true magnum opus was her family. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Russell Grant, who could always count on her for an honest share of laughter—even when suspecting his socks were disappearing under mysterious circumstances. Her children—Carynn, Angelica, Summer, Brianna, and Mathew—knew that in misunderstandings and misadventures, Mom's compassion was boundless and unfaltering.
Her grandchildren, Mason Moon, Benjamin, Pennlynn, Madalyn, Jordyn, and her beloved mother-in-law Marie, were well acquainted with her unwavering loyalty and her infamous Outlander references. Every family gathering, mischief or magic, had Sharon at its joyful core. Her brother, Patrick Montenegro, his wife Debbie and their two sons Joseph and Jonathan. Sister-in-law Patricia Cooper and Niece and Nephew Sabrina and Brandon, fondly remembers Sharon's kind and considerate nature, ensuring every get-together was party-ready, much like turning ordinary parks into family havens.
Sharon's myriad of virtues shone brightly alongside her enriching love for stories—the more adventurous, the better. As an avid reader, she practically lived in the Scottish Highlands through Outlander, demonstrating her unwavering passion for tales longer than the legend of her laugh.
Sharon's life will be celebrated at Zephyr Park in Zephyrhills, Florida, on December 7, 2024. It promises to be a testament to the wonderful woman she was, where tales as tall as she cast will surely fill the air.
For those wishing to pen their condolences, her family welcomes warm messages and ruminations of shared moments at 8803 Spruce Lane, Tampa, Florida 33637.
Though she may rest, her spirit remains adventuring, brightening stories, and bringing joy wherever her memory touches, as she once did so effortlessly in life.
Dear Mommy,
You were the best mother anyone could have asked for. NO matter if I was falling off the wagon or getting my life together you were always right there supporting me. I promise to be the mother you were for me with my daughter. Michael and I will make sure Pennylynn knows about you. I love you and will miss you, but I know you are in a better place now and not in pain.
Love always,
Angelica
Momma what is there to say? You were taken too soon, there was still so much to learn. The knowledge you did impart will help me forever though. You taught me that there is grey in the world, everything isn’t just black and white. You also taught me to celebrate the little things and not dwell on the negative. So, the negative is you’re not here anymore but the positive is I got to know what a mother should really be like. To do anything for her kids, to show love even thought I am more than a handful. I love you no matter what and I hope you’re at peace wherever you are. – Carynn
Dear Mama,
I just want to thank you for taking me in and caring for me at a time when I felt that no one did. Because of the love that you showed me, it helped me know that I could be a good mom to my girls (your granddaughters). I think of you every time I watch Grey’s Anatomy and every time I make fried potatoes because you always said they were the best. I deeply regret not being able to bring Jordyn to meet you, but I will make sure that both her and Madalyn know who you are and how special you are to our family. You are their grandma and always will be watching over us. I miss you so much! I love you forever! Until we meet again fly high.
I love you mama,
Bri/momma
Dear Mama
You’re like the sun warm and bright you are my best friend. I will be looking for signs of you everywhere I look. I hope you’re at peace and I know you’ll be watching over us forever. I can’t wait to name my kid after you one day. I will miss you forever. Love, Summer
