Mr. Wallace Leon Thompson, age 86 a resident of Polk City passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Mr. Thompson was born March 21, 1938, in Auburndale, Florida to JC Austin and Ruthie Sara (Kirkland) Thompson. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Cold War Era. He was a lifetime Polk County resident, past member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Auburndale and graduated from Auburndale High School Class of 1956. Wallace was a 4th generation Carpenter working and retired as a Master Finish Carpenter for Residential Home Construction. He also was the Owner/Operator of a Citrus Nursery for 20 years in Polk City. He enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Wallace is survived by his loving family, wife of 62 years – Cumie Thompson of Polk City; 3 sons – Brian Thompson of Polk City, Tye (Denise) Thompson of Auburndale and Jason (Amanda) Thompson of Fort Meade; brother – Austin (Gail) Thompson of Auburndale; 8 grandchildren – Kyle (Stephanie), Katie (Adam), Colton, Drew (Christine), Hailey (Brice), Kaimee, Caleb & Trinty; 10 great grandchildren – Spencer, Dixie, Reece, Wellyn, Kenzie, Carter, Carson, Stella, Slade & Steel.  Visitation will be held Thursday, November 21st from 6 – 8 pm at Kersey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm Friday, November 22nd at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Cemetery.
