In Loving Memory
South Hadley- It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory E. Daviau, who departed from this life on November 14, 2024, at the age of 64. Gregory was born on July 11, 1960, in Holyoke, and he lived a life marked by service, integrity, and an unyielding pursuit of truth.
Gregory dedicated over three decades to the Army National Guard, demonstrating unwavering commitment and loyalty in his roles at OEM, Westfield Armory, and the Army Aviation Unit at Barnes Airport. His career was characterized by a staunch dedication to his duties and a deep respect for his colleagues and country.
A man of profound honesty and kindness, Gregory was known for his deep appreciation of the world around him. He never took anything at face value and was renowned for his keen ability to dig deeper to uncover truth in all aspects of life. His passion for nature was reflected in his love for kayaking, canoeing, and camping—activities through which he found solace and peace.
Gregory was more than just a dedicated serviceman; he was a cherished father to his beloved daughter, Jane Daviau, who was the light of his life and his greatest pride. His ability to weave personal anecdotes and lively discussions into everyday encounters made him a valued presence in his community. Greg took pleasure in daily walks where he would converse happily with his neighbors, always ready with a story to share.
His passing leaves behind a legacy of steadfast loyalty and friendship, dearly missed by his daughter, Jane, his surviving siblings, George Jr., Glen, Rosemary, and Pamela, as well as the countless friends he made along his journey. He is predeceased by his parents, George Sr. and Jane (Danner) Daviau, who undoubtedly instilled in him the virtues he would carry throughout his life.
