In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Evelyn Arimas, 70 years old, in Salinas, CA. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend, Evelyn is remembered for her kindness, laughter, and smile.
Evelyn was born in Laoag City, Philippines. She was a model student throughout her schooling and eventually attended Mariano Marcos State University, formerly Northern Luzon Teacher’s College, to become a teacher. She taught in elementary schools in Manilla and Ilocos. After meeting and marrying her husband, she immigrated to the US in March 1978 and lived in Salinas for the rest of her life.
Evelyn worked at Thor Electronics and IDT until 2002. After the shut down, Evelyn studied at Central Coast College and worked at First National Bank until 2012.
Evelyn enjoyed so much of life. She loved to garden, bake, dance, watch movies, and travel. She loved to spend time with family and friends, and especially with her grandkids. She found friends and community at her parish Madonna del Sasso, prayer groups, and Salvation Army Zumba classes.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 48 years, Florencio, son Neil, daughter Leah, grandchildren, and four siblings (Josie, Serafin, Froilan, and Federico Jr.). She was preceded in death by her sister Lillia, daughter Florelyn, father Federico Sr., mother Esmenia, sister Yolanda and brother Rey.
Viewing services will be held at Healey Mortuary, 405 N Sanborn Rd, Salinas, CA 93905, on Sunday, November 24 from 2:30pm-6:00pm with rosary prayer service at 6pm. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, November 25 at 9:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22 Stone St, Salinas, CA 93901. Immediately following mass will be burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Prunedale, CA 93907.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
