Pauline DeEster Smith gracefully exited the world stage on November 17, 2024, from her final residence in Largo, FL. Born a firecracker on April 22, 1945, in Knoxville, TN, Pauline perfected the art of weaving humor into the fabric of everyday life, even as she battled the sometimes-dreary circumstances fate served her.
Embodying a lifelong career as a Head Bank Teller, Pauline not only balanced the books but often balanced the office wit with her sharp tongue and playful sarcasm. Her keen ability to find humor in life's mundane moments was her special gift, only rivaled by the affable charm that accompanied it.
Known by many as the 'Queen of Pestering,' Pauline had the rare talent to make just about anyone crack a smile. Her candid honesty was more like a brand, creating enduring connections with those who were fortunate to meet her on life's journey.
Pauline had a vivacious appetite for life’s thrills. She took to the skies hang-gliding, proved a formidable adversary in cards and bingo, and displayed prowess on the bowling lanes. And, of course, who could forget her passionate pursuit of finding treasures at garage and yard sales, much to the amusement—and occasional dismay—of her beloved kids and grandkids, whom she enjoyed pestering at every opportunity.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Jack Smith, and her brother Jimmy Kirk. She is survived by her three children, sons Earl Smith (Brenda), Damon Smith (Melissa), and daughter Barbara Hassell (Jeff), 6 grandchildren - Ryan, Caitlin, Haylee, Shawna, Travis, and Thomas, 2 great grandchildren - Allie and Harper, sister Barbara Roland, and twin brother Paul Kirk.
While Pauline has bid us adieu, her sparkling spirit lives on, encouraging all who knew her to live life with humor and honesty—forever reminding us that a little sarcasm never hurt anyone.
Per Pauline's wishes, there will be no services.
