Benjamin "Benny" Franklin Tompkins
December 12th, 1949 - November 18th, 2024
In Loving Memory
Benjamin "Benny" Franklin Tompkins, Jr., 74, husband of Carolyn Rice Tompkins, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024. He was born on December 12, 1949, in Cincinnati, OH to the late Imogene Smith and Benjamin Franklin Tompkins, Sr. Mr. Tompkins graduated high school in 1967 and was the vice president of construction for Gray Hawk prior to retirement.
Benny loved spending time with family at the lake, traveling, cabin time with the boys and tinkering in his garage with a cold beer. He was always happy to help others build or fix anything needed. He was a hard worker and never left a task unfinished.
Besides his wife of 54 years, Carolyn, those left to cherish his memory includes his daughter, Jeanna (Scott) Wright; son, Benjamin “Benji” (Athena) Tompkins, III.; sisters, Brenda (Dennis) Hays, Jenny (Jim) Lovins; brothers, John Tompkins, Roger Tompkins; granddaughters, Jalyn Richardson, Julia Tompkins; several nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Kalli.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Tompkins is preceded in death by a brother, Ray Tompkins.
The family is thankful to have Benny’s long time friend, Jim Crow, by our side during the last days of his life.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 1-3:30pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing with a celebration of life service starting at 3:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bluegrass Bully Rescue. https://www.bluegrassbullyrescue.org/
