Sandra Lee Brown Johnson, age 72 of El Paso, Colorado Springs, left this world to be with her angels in heaven on November 7, 2024.

 

Sandra Johnson, a courageous, vibrant spirit, whose life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter and boundless energy. Sandra left an everlasting legacy of kindness, mentorship and adventure. Sandra was very driven and focused on achievements at the highest level.

 

Sandra, born and raised in Hawaii, began her young life in Kailua on the island of Oahu where she completed all grades of school and graduated from Kailua High School in 1970.

 

Sandra was very ambitious and used her natural beauty to start her short modeling career. She graduated from two modeling schools, winning two beauty contests. 

 

Sandra kept active as a young women and completed numerous dance classes. She danced and performed the Hula, Tahitian, Jazz and Country Two-Step. 

 

Sandra began her professional career in 1983 working for the federal government as a secretary on the Kaneohe Marine Base. As if Sandra did not have enough to keep her busy, while raising three kids and going to college she became a realtor and notary public in 1984 part time.

 

In 1989 Sandra met Mr. Michael Johnson and they relocated from Hawaii to Colorado to start a new life together with her two kids Dillon and Dean.

 

Sandra finished college in 1996, receiving a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Colorado. 

 

Sandra continued her professional career as a housing management assistant and realty specialist at the Air Force Academy and Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. Sandra retired from the federal government in 2011 with 28 years of service. 

 

Sandra loved animals; especially cats, dogs and horses. Her hobbies were cooking, reading, writing, sewing and gardening. If you knew Sandra, you knew her laugh and it was infectious. 

 

Sandra loved her family, and was loved by anyone that knew her. She was a dedicated mother and wife, always there to listen, support and give advice.

 

Sandra is survived by her spouse Michael Joe Johnson, her children Kanoe Bettencourt, Dillon McCallister, Dean McCallister, grandchildren Kiana Bettencourt, Nathan McCallister, great grandchildren Halia Rose Bettencourt, Kaileia Rae Bettencourt, sister Susan Brown, brother Tim Brown, nieces and nephews Lukas Kealoha, Jake Kolb and Liana Olsen.

 

Sandra is preceded in death by father Everett Lee Brown, mother Geraldine King and sister Sherry Lou Brown.
