Ronald Higgins
September 1st, 1949 - November 9th, 2024
Ron Dennis Higgins passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, at the age of 75 in Melbourne, FL. Born on September 1, 1949, Ron was known for his vibrant spirit and deep love for his Boston sports teams, always ready with a cheer of "Go Sox!". Ron’s favorite summer days were joyfully spent at Hampton Beach, with essential stops for lobster at Ray's and Markey's. But Ron found his greatest joy in the time he shared with his grandchildren.
Ron began his days with a signature Starbucks Cold Brew, enhanced with two scoops of vanilla bean powder, a testament to his zest for life and simple joys. A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Ron served his country with honor and dedication, embodying the spirit of service and resilience.
After leaving the Army Ron went on to have a successful 35-year career in software engineering management at Digital Equipment Corporation in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and Northrop Grumman Corporation in Melbourne, FL.
Ron is lovingly remembered by his wife, Peggy; children, Ron, Michelle, Jon and his wife Stacey; and his three cherished grandchildren, Fenia Benet-Higgins, Aidan Higgins, and Alana Higgins. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family, including his Aunt Barbara and Uncle Gary; cousins Nancy, David, Jeff, Brad, and Debbie; in-laws Maureen, Jack and Joan, and Jim and Nancy; and many cherished nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte Lanes Higgins and Lamont "Bud" Higgins, and his dear uncle and aunt Mike and Arlene Lanes.
A remembrance service for Ron will be held at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 5400 Village Drive, Viera, FL 32955, on January 3, 2025, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. A social gathering will follow at River Rocks, 6485 South US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955. All are welcome to attend and share in commemorating Ron's legacy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or CLL Society, honoring Ron's legacy and support for fellow veterans.
