Gerard Gerald Schmidt Born July 6th, 1930 Died March 5th, 2020 Gerard Gerald Schmidt (Jerry) was born on July 6th, 1930 in Johnson, Kansas to Walter and Zelma Schmidt. He is survived by his wife Carol Schmidt; Son Steven Schmidt; Daughter Jeree Sinclair (Bob); Step-Daughter Debbie Hatcher (Nelson); Step-Son Matt Perrin; Grandchildren Xander Sinclair, Gabriel Sinclair, Leah Strong, Savannah Schafer (Justin), Adam Hatcher, Aunica Hatcher, Ryan Perrin, and Regan Perrin; Great Grandchildren Logan Schafer, Blake Schafer, and Evan Schafer. Jerry was preceded in death by wife Faye Schmidt, Father Walter Schmidt, Mother Zelma Schmidt, Brother Eugene Schmidt, Brother Gano Schmidt, and Sister Lorraine Lake. Jerry grew up on the family farm in Syracuse, Kansas with his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. In 1947 the family moved off of the farm and into town. Prior to graduating high school in 1949, Jerry worked at Anderson Grocery in Syracuse, Kansas as a Sales Clerk. Jerry served in the Army from March of 1952 to March of 1954. Because of his Hay Fever, Jerry knew that farming was not in his future. He attended college at Ft. Hayes in Kansas and University of Kansas, Pittsburgh. He received a 4 year degree in Accounting/Business. Jerry moved to Denver after visiting his sister Lorraine who was attending business school in Denver. He got his first accounting job at Carlson/Frink Dairy. He had a friend in the dry cleaning business and eventually became a Manager at the 1 Hour Martinizing cleaners in Downtown Denver. He eventually bought his dry cleaning business, Your Valet in Westminster which he owned until retirement. He married Faye Portwood on April 4th, 1958. Their son Steven Schmidt was born August 13, 1960 and Jeree came along September 11, 1969. Jerry and Faye were married for 32 years until her death in 1990. In June of 1999 Jerry married Carol Perrin. They were married 20 years until Jerry†™s death. His family loved him more than words could express. He was a positive and happy man. He laughed much and spread joy wherever he was. He loved Jesus with all of his heart and attended church regularly. He was quick to help out the church, family and friends in any way he could.
