Loren "UNCLE BUTCH" H Michael
April 21st, 1947 - November 16th, 2024
Everybody loved Loren!
After 77 happy years, Loren Michael passed on to a New Haven on November 16, 2024. Loren was born on April 21, 1947 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to John and Gladys Hall Michael and was the youngest brother to John, Dennis and Jenene. Loren graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1965. Following high school graduation, Loren moved east to New Jersey to join his sister, Jenene and her four children, attended Monmouth College, and began his long and successful career in the fragrance and flavor industry at IFF. As an accomplished chemist and a sales executive, his career span over 50 years of service in the flavor and fragrance industry, which he loved and thrived in.
Loren is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Florentina; daughter, Daneille Sallahian; son-in-law, Leonard Sallahian; sister Jenene; step son Radu; 13 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews across the country. Loren will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Natalie and Michael Sallahian, and step grandchild Isabella who have great memories of him and among many other things, will miss his jokes and sense of humor.
Loren was our beloved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, storyteller, and jokester. He was kind, gentle, caring, loving, friendly, sociable, open-minded, intelligent, witty, wise. He was a HAPPY soul! Loren lived life to the fullest: he set foot on all 7 continents, travelled over million miles to over 60 countries, and visited all 50 US states by all of means of transportation, except for balloon. He loved cars (he could recognize all American vintage cars by year of manufacture), his single malt whiskies, prime steaks, and lately our new home and life in South Carolina. He made and kept friends throughout the world, who were happy to see him and recount memories anytime he was in town.
Loren, we love you and mostly we will miss you! You will always be in our hearts and minds, and we will treasure our memories, your love of life and happy spirit. May you rest in peace!
