Marian Bernard
July 12th, 1928 - November 17th, 2024
A cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Marian Franklin Bernard, 96, passed away from this life and into eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 17, 2024 with her daughter, Sharon by her side.
Marian was born to Faye Elizabeth Franklin and Marion Cavil Franklin in Port Arthur, Texas on July 12, 1928.
She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas in 1946 and later fulfilled her dream as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, graduating from Rio Hondo College in Whittier, California. The work that most defined her time on earth was her care and compassion for those in her care both in the PCCU (Post Coronary Care Unit) and the Emergency Department at the Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, California.
She retired from the nursing vocation in 1991 and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where she enjoyed ranch life living with her daughter Sharon, grandsons, Jonathan and Garrett, and numerous “critters” including cattle, horses, hogs, chickens, turkeys, dogs, and cats. She also volunteered at the Fort Collins Rescue Mission and The Family Center in Fort Collins, where she continued to enrich the lives of others.
Her parents, Faye Franklin and Marion Franklin, and her beloved grandson, Jonathan R. Tate, preceded her in death.
Marian was greatly loved by and deeply connected to her loving congregation at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Bellvue, Colorado.
She is survived by her daughter, Alicia MonCrief (Charlton) of Huntsville, Alabama; her daughter Sharon Golmis Tate of Fort Collins, Colorado, her grandson Garrett Andrew Tate of Loveland, Colorado; Grandchildren Jackson Hart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Sarah Vasquez (Nick) of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and her great granddaughters, Tegan Kaye Tate of Wellington, Colorado as well as her extended family, church family, and friends.
One special way to honor Marian’s life would be to donate to Hospice of Larimer County or the Larimer County Humane Society.
