Marlborough (Marley) Pegues Carroll, 85, of Charlotte, passed away November 20, 2024. Born March 31, 1939, and raised in Shelby, he was the son of the late Frances Pegues Carroll and Mason L Carroll, and was preceded in death by his brother Lindsay Carroll.

 

Marley is survived by his loving wife, Irene Gillogley Carroll, his daughters, AnnaElizabeth Payne Carroll and Katherine Lindsay Carroll (Tom McDonnell), his sons, Marley Francis Carroll (Nicole McConville) and Mason Littlewood Carroll, and his sister Preston Carroll Meynardie (Bill Meynardie).

 

In his professional life, Marley was an accomplished architect that designed many of North Carolina’s most iconic buildings. As a father, he was the heartbeat of a beautiful, loving family that followed his example of kindness and humility. Guided by his abiding Christian faith, he walked through the world seeking to understand others and treating everyone he met with genuine curiosity and compassion. He will be deeply missed.

 

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 26th at Covenant Presbyterian Church - 1000 E Morehead St, Charlotte, NC. A reception will follow at the church Welcome Center. The service will be streamed live at www.covenantpresby.org/live.
