Erma was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Harold and Edith Ashlock, the fourth of six children. She graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, Class of 1951. She met the love of her life, Alfred Brown of Gower, Missouri while he was in the Navy. They were married in 1952. After Al's service ended, they returned to Kansas City, Missouri.
In 1955 their daughter Jean was born, followed by sons John in 1960, and Tom in 1962. In 1964, Al's job moved the family to Milwaukie, Oregon and son Richard was born in 1965. Erma raised the children until they were older and she went to work as a Secretary until she was 72.
Alfred passed in 1994, they had been faithfully married for 42 years and she remained faithful to him for the rest of her life. They are now reunited in heaven as they were both Christians, they loved their church and Savior.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Edith Ashlock, husband Alfred Brown, sister Edna Smith, brothers Keith, Clinton and Lester Ashlock, son-in-law David Brunk and granddaughter Mikayla.
Erma is survived by her brother Roger Ashlock, daughter Jean Brunk, sons John, Tom, and Richard Brown, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She will rest with her husband Alfred at the Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, Oregon. At her request there will be no services.
She will be loved and missed by all whose lives she touched.
