Alice Mooney Conrad

Alice Mooney Conrad, age 103 of Arlington, VA, died peacefully in her home on November 9, 2024. Alice was born on a farm in Waukee, Iowa, to Lela and Christopher Mooney on February 9, 1921. Alice and her two brothers and sister all had chores to do and one of Her’s was to take out and bring in the cows from pasture for milking. This task acquainted her with nature’s beauty and influenced her lifetime love of gardening.In 1940, Alice attended Iowa State University and met her future husband, Charles Conrad. They were married for 52 years in a loving relationship and had four children, David, Lenore, Paul, and Karen. Alice developed skills in floral design and pottery that were influenced by her love of gardening and nature. Being a ceramic artist, she created pottery to enhance flower arrangements. Sharing her artistic talents was one of the most rewarding parts of her life.Alice was a member of Columbia Baptist Church for 74 years, the Rock Creek Garden Club for 53 years, and Lee Center Artists Ceramics for 32 years. Alice is survived by her children: David (Liz), Paul (Laurie) and Karen Bland. Grandchildren: David, Jr. (Beth), Mark (Lisa), Jesse, Condit (John), Lisa (Tim), Craig, William, Wendy (Mark), and David.
