Donald Richard Allen, Sr.

Donald Richard Allen Sr., age 94, passed away peacefully at home on November 18, 2024, surrounded by his wife Emma, daughter Melody and son-in-law Jim. Don was born in Orange, New Jersey on September 29, 1930, and was a longtime resident of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania before moving to Punta Gorda 37 years ago. Don served as Vice President of Human Resources for Bates Manufacturing, Hackettstown, New Jersey for over 30 years before retiring. Don also worked for the Charlotte County School system for 11 years after retirement. Don served as Past President of the Punta Gorda Lions Club and a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary of Punta Gorda. Don was an avid golfer, sailor and raced Shelby Mustangs all over New Jersey and Pennsylvania along with his son Donald Jr.

Don is survived by his wife of 52 years Emma Dandeo Allen, brother Charles Allen and wife Claire, sister Marilyn Lawrence, daughters Melody Abline and husband Jim, Lee Dewey and husband Guy, Linda Ochs, Gloria Wilson, Joanne Siracusa and Elaine Magid and husband Bruce and daughter-in-law Cathy Allen. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Theresa Allen, son Donald Allen Jr, daughter Theresa Goward, son Joseph Siracusa and grandson Graham Goward.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 8th, 2024, at Riverside Oaks, Punta Gorda, Florida, at 12:00 p.m.
