Sheryl Lynn (Hodge) McEwen, was born April 5, 1951, in Nampa, Idaho, the daughter of Billy Wayne Hodge and Frankie Jean Quigley. Sheryl started life a premature birth, and at the time it was a miracle for her to have survived.  She attended grade schools in Payette, and Fruitland, Idaho and when entering high school they moved to a ranch in Nevada and Sheryl had to board with an elderly lady in Winnemucca, Nevada and her parents would have to drive 100 miles each way to bring her home for the weekend and then take her back Sunday evening.  The family then moved back to Fruitland, Idaho where Sheryl finished up her education at Fruitland High School.  She met her future husband, Roger McEwen, at Fruitland High School, basketball games her senior year.

After she turned 18 in April of 1966, she and Roger started dating.  After graduating she began working at a bank in Payette, Idaho, where Roger was working and attending Boise State College.  In the fall of 1970, Roger proposed, and they were planning a June wedding. Sheryl’s roommate moved out so they decided that it would be cheaper to have on apartment, so they moved the wedding to January 1971 and were married in the First Christian Church in Payette on 16 January 1971.  Sheryl continued working at the bank after Roger graduated until their son Aaron was born in October 1976.  On May 25, 1974, Sheryl was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and on June 12, 1975, she and Roger were sealed together for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.  In 1981 Roger accepted a job in Anchorage Alaska and they lived in Wasilla, Alaska for 20 winters (as Roger would say.)  Roger was working as an accountant for the United States Army, and his boss took a job at Camp Zama in the Tokyo Japan area and asked Roger to come work for him in Japan, so in January of 2002 Sheryl and Roger moved to Japan where they spent 5 years before returning to Wasilla, Alaska, for another 6 years before Roger retired and they moved back to Fruitland, Idaho in 2012.  Sheryl has been a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints having served in many callings including Relief Society President and served in a Stake Relief Society presidency.

Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel-Ontario

For over 100 years, the Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel has served the Ontario, Oregon, community with professional, compassionate care. Our story begins in 1907 when the Peterson family, who owned a furniture store in Ontario, helped with funeral arrangements and sold caskets from the store’s basement. Over the years, the business has grown and had a number of owners, partnerships and names. Among them was our current namesake, the Lienkaemper family, who purchased the family funeral home with the mission of helping families in the Ontario community. ...
