It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Gladys Altagrace Aurelien, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on November 23, 2024, surrounded by family and love, at the age of eighty-two. Gladys was born on July 19, 1942, in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, to a family that cherished her from the moment she entered this world. Gladys emigrated from Haiti to the United States over fifty years ago where she and her husband, Dr. Rollin Aurelien, built a life for themselves and their children that exemplified the American Dream.

Gladys was a woman of unwavering strength, love, and grace. She spent her life caring for others with compassion and devotion, especially her family. She had a love of life like none other. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Rollin Aurelien, and her sisters Clara Ardouin, Violette Manon, and Carida Miguel. She is survived by her three children: sons Rollin Aurelien (Patricia Goodbee-Aurelien) and Ricardo Aurelien (Rasa Aurelien), daughter Maryalta (Aurelien) Rivers, her six treasured grandchildren: Justin, Jordan, Jasmine, Tyler-Michelle, Ryan-Victoria, and Peyton, who were the lights of her life and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews who lovingly called her Grandma Gladys.

Her devotion to her family was evident in everything she did. A nurturing mother, grandmother, and sister, Gladys imparted wisdom, joy, and love to all who were blessed to know her. Her vibrant spirit will live on through her children and grandchildren, and her memory will be cherished forever.

Gladys’ legacy of love, resilience, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her loved ones, but we take comfort in the knowledge that her legacy will live on through all the lives she touched.

Her viewing will be held at TJ McGowan & Sons Funeral Home, Garnerville, NY Sunday, December 1st from 3pm – 7pm. A mass will be held to celebrate her life at St. Peter’s and St. Mary’s Church on Monday, December 2nd at 10 am. The family thanks everyone for their love and support.

May Gladys Altagrace Aurelien rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before her.
