Penny Lynn Young

Penny Young (née Buecker), 73, passed away on November 14, 2024 at her home in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Penny was a strong, beautiful, selfless and compassionate woman who was always there for her family and friends. Penny was born in Springfield, Illinois on September 21, 1951. She graduated from Springfield High School and went to work for the State at the Illinois State Fair. After more than 30 years with the State, Penny retired in 2003. She also served as a big sister in the Big Brother Big Sister program. After retiring she was involved in horse racing at the Illinois State Fair. She also spent time working part-time for the Riverton School District before moving in with her parents to care for them. Penny is preceded in death by her parents Roger and Peggy Buecker, her son Christopher Welch, her husband Kenny Young and her brother Stewart Buecker. Penny is survived by her daughter Elisabeth (Caleb) Hoover, sister Martha (Tom) Richey, her brothers Steve and Stan (Nancy) Buecker, her first husband and father of her children Tom Welch, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, her outlaw Stefany Henson and her dog Willie.
