Richard Keith Woodruff, 71, of Rockledge, Florida passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Advent Health Hospice, Orlando, Florida.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon Heath Woodruff.  He is also survived by brothers Lawrence Woodruff, Jr. and his wife Sis, and James D. Woodruff both of Hemphill, Texas, brother-in-law Thomas Ronald Heath and his wife Gloria of Brandon, Florida along with a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence, mother Betty, and sisters Margaret (Peggy} and Emma Rebecca (Becky}, father-in-law Joe Heath and mother-in-law Christine Heath.

He retired from Roadway Express in 2010after 31 years of service, at the age of 57. Additionally, he was a Teamsters’ Union Steward for the Roadway shop located in Rockledge, Florida.  In 1982, he proudly worked as a Teamster driver on the filming of “Cross Creek” in Ocala, Florida where he met all the movie stars one of whom said he “was the only driver who could get through the mud.” He was a long-time avid Atlanta Braves fan having grown up in Atlanta, Georgia moving to Brevard County, Florida as a teenager.  He played softball for Clearlake Baptist Church and other teams for many years.  He was a full-time care giver for his mother-in-law, Christine Heath, for three years after his retirement.

Some of his favorite pastimes were keeping a meticulous lawn and detailing his trucks and cars keeping them looking brand new at all times.  His favorite drink was Mountain Dew, and he became fond of it while working the third shift at Roadway Express.  He also enjoyed painting homes which he learned from his father’s business at a young age.  He was known for his signature plaid shirts, which were selected by his wife. Richard and Sharon never had children but had fur baby Chihuahuas. He was especially fond of his current Chi named Biscuit.
