Carl Edward Grigsby, age 82 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Carl was born on September 10, 1942, in Russell County, VA to Lilburn and Hazel Grigsby. Carl retired from Loven Construction in 2006. In 1973, Carl married his most cherished friend, Jewel Norton, and after 47 years of a wonderful marriage, she preceded him in death in July of 2020.
Carl enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around with old cars. He was a member and former choir leader at Midway Baptist in Scott County, VA. He also enjoyed watching basketball and baseball and spending time with his family.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Jewel Norton Grigsby; one sister, Polly Marshall; and four brothers-in-law, Richard Marshall, James Meade, Paul Salyer, and Thomas Hensley. Those left to cherish his memory are his stepdaughter, Vickie Wright; three step grandchildren, Chelsi, Autumn, and Davy; one brother, James Grigsby and his wife, Carolyn; four sisters, Mary Meade, Betty Salyer, Eva Hensley, and Peggy Barbour and husband, George; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Amedisys Hospice and the staff at Church Hill Healthcare.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Darrell Fletcher and Pastor Jerry Hensley officiating. Special music will be provided by Dale Smith. A graveside service will follow at Norton Cemetery in Surgoinsville, TN.
