Donald Wayne Kammerer

Donald Wayne Kammerer of Greeley, CO passed away on November 22, 2024. Don was born February 14, 1930 the oldest of 4 children to HJ and Hattie (De Kruif) Kammerer in Primghar, Iowa.  He was raised on the family farm in O’Brien County. He graduated from Primghar High School in 1948.

On July 7, 1950 he married his high school sweetheart, Edith (Edie) Jean Oostenbrug.  Following their marriage, he farmed in O’Brien County where they raised their two children, Daniel and Jean. In 1972 he moved his family to Greeley, CO.

In 1974 Don was employed at Agland, Inc., first in sales and then as the manager of the Crop Production Division.  He belonged to the Rocky Mountain Plant Food Association and served as President in 1982. 

He belonged to the Congregational Church in Primghar, Iowa and served on various boards.  After moving to Greeley he joined the First Congregational Church, where he once served on the Board of Trustees.

Through the years, Don enjoyed many activities. He belonged to a bowling league. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Highland Hills Senior Golf Association.  He followed many sports, with football being his favorite.  He also loved camping and fishing in the beautiful Rocky Mountains where he and his wife spent many happy days at their shared campground.  Don cherished the family tradition of sitting around the table for a game of cards. These moments brought out his incredible sense of humor.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, sister and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Edith, children, Daniel (Traci) and Jean (Joe Perri), grandchildren, Jennifer (David Muhs) and Daniel (Kristen) Schaffert, step-grandchildren, Johanna and Elliana Schultz, great-grandchildren, Austin, Tyler and Jordan Schaffert, Hawthorne and Arden Muhs.

His family will share a celebration of his life in a private memorial service.
