POSEY, Stephen John passed away at the age of 78, at his home in Oro Valley, AZ on October 21, 2024. He was born in Casa Grande, Arizona to Robert Weddel and Virginia Irene (Virgie Williams) Posey. He graduated from Casa Grande Union High School in 1964. At CGUHS Steve was Athlete of the Year (1964) and received track and field awards from Arizona State for throwing the Discus. Steve met his wife Virginia (Ginny Kozlowski) at the University of Arizona where she taught graduate classes on Special Education. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arizona. He spent some time as a real estate broker in Tucson, AZ. Steve was a passionate botanist, historian, and an amazing caregiver for his wife (who suffered and passed of M.S.) and his mother through the years. They had one daughter Amala Kathleen Posey in 1982. Steve loved the plants of the Sonoran and Baja deserts. He spent over 40 years cultivating a cactus garden and beautiful habitat at the Posey Family Home. Steve is survived by his daughter, Amala Posey-Monk (Bentley Monk) and two grand-daughters Geneva and Norah Mae Monk of Lewis, CO. Steve is also survived by one sister – Kathy (Posey) Schoentag (Ken) of Colorado Springs, Co and one brother, Tommy Posey (Linda) of El Paso, Tx and will be missed by many other family members.
