Curtis Ray King
June 25th, 1957 - November 24th, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Curtis Ray King, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Curtis passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family. He was 67 years old.
Born on June 25, 1957, in St. Charles, Missouri, Curtis was the son of John and Vera King, both of whom preceded him in death.
Curtis was the devoted husband of Kimberly King, and the proud father of Samuel Glenn King, who is currently studying Aerospace Engineering at CU. Curtis was especially proud of Samuel’s accomplishments and the bright future ahead of him. He was also a loving brother to Debbie Nichols, Kathy Martin, and John King. Curtis was a doting and caring uncle to many, nieces, nephews, great-nephew, and great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Bryan Nichols, who was especially dear to him.
A hardworking and passionate man, Curtis spent over 20 years with King Soopers and founded King's Lawn Care in 1999, which he proudly ran for 24 years. He loved working outdoors and took great pride in the care he provided for his clients’ lawns.
While Curtis is no longer with us, his wife, Kimberly, will continue his legacy by carrying on the family business, ensuring that the values and pride Curtis put into his work live on. Curtis's business would not have been the same without the dedication, and friendship of Tim Thorell, who was by his side for many years.
In addition to his work, Curtis had a deep love for life and the outdoors. He was an avid camper, softball player, motorcycle enthusiast, and skier, car racer #107—activities that kept him close to nature. He had fond memories of motorcycle rides with his buddies. He also enjoyed playing cards and just being with family and friends.
Above all, Curtis was a family man. He was incredibly proud of the life he built with his wife, Kimberly and the many camping adventurers. He cherished every moment spent with his son, Samuel, and felt immense pride in his son’s academic achievements. He sincerely loved watching Samuel grow to the man he is today. Curtis’s enduring love for his wife and family, as well as his generous spirit and sense of adventure, will forever be remembered.
A celebration of Curtis’s life will be announced at a later date.
Curtis’s legacy of love, hard work, and adventure will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be forever remembered for the joy he brought to his family and the memories he created with those lucky enough to call him a friend.
