Edna Nielson Waters
March 6th, 1929 - November 3rd, 2024
Edna Nielson Waters, aged 95, passed away on November 3, 2024, in Denver, CO. She was born on March 6, 1929, in Hamden, CT. She graduated from Indiana University and was a proud member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Edna dedicated much of her life to education and community service. She devoted 20 years to nurturing young minds as a first-grade teacher in New Orleans, LA.
Following her teaching career, she moved to Denver and became a dedicated volunteer at the Denver Dumb Friends League. She knit countless baby blankets for needy children and families. She and her church friends claimed that no baby left Denver General Hospital without a blanket. Edna was a faithful member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Denver, where she formed many lasting friendships.
She is survived by her loving family: daughters Pam Tucker and Nancy Waters DeLong (Tom); son Kenny Waters (Teri); grandchildren Robin Waters, Brian Tucker, Laura DeLong, Eric DeLong (Cheyenne), Blake Waters (Morgan), Caroline Waters Willard (Robert), Grant Waters; and great-grandchildren, Griffin Waters, Tripp Willard, Carter Willard, Sloane Waters, and Isabella Waters. Edna was preceded in death by her daughter Amy Jean Waters.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edna's memory can be made to Denver Dumb Friends League, an animal adoption and welfare center, honoring her lifelong love for animals and her commitment to their well-being.
The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to Diane Levene and Kim Pavy, genuine friends and tireless helpers to Edna for many years.
