Robert "Bob" Frank Schibig
January 5th, 1932 - November 19th, 2024
Robert F. Schibig, 92, arrived on January 5,1932 in Tacoma WA.
The son of, Frank & Rosa Schibig, was raised in Parkland WA, where he attended Parkland Elementary School, Clover Park High School, then drafted into the United States Army before returning home to attend college & help with the family dairy operation.
Countless stories have been told of a young mischievous “Bobby” running around Parkland, then later cruising about town in his Corvette convertible with his friends & cousins checking out the local gathering spots.
He truly loved to have fun, and it was on one of these nights out that he met his Irish lass, Sharon. The two married in 1962.
For the 62 years that followed, Bob lived life to its fullest.
Never straying far from the farm, he and Sharon raised two children Steven & Patty while carrying on the family business, Lakeview Dairy.
Bob became well known as Parkland-Lakewood’s favorite smiling milkman and his picture appeared in a few Tacoma News Tribune articles throughout this era.
He also served on the Lakeview Light & Power Company’s board of directors for 45 years and spoke fondly of his time and everyone he knew there.
Upon retirement he enjoyed stepping out for morning coffee gatherings with friends, yard work and checking on his neighbors.
Bob was very proud of his Swiss heritage. He was a member of both the Tacoma Swiss and the Swiss Sportsmen’s Clubs.
Many special memories revolve around Swiss celebrations & the long time friendships forged from the Swiss community.
Being grandpa to Nathan, Kyle & Kelsey was a role Bob took seriously and enjoyed thoroughly. He was our Easter egg hider, pumpkin scrubber and cookie taster.
A hospital nurse had recently asked him what he loved most… to which he replied “snacks & my family”
His passing leaves our hearts heavy.
His loving nature, quick wit & charming personality will forever be missed.
Bob is survived by his wife Sharon, son Steven (Corrie) Schibig, daughter Patty Schibig & grandchildren Nathan (Alison) Schibig, Kyle Schibig & Kelsey Jones, along with numerous family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:30 pm on Jan 5, 2025 at the Swiss Sportsmen’s Club, Bonney Lake WA.
Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery- date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Swiss Youth programs via the Swiss Sportsmen’s Club or local charity of your choice.
